This place, created in 1972, has the mission of bringing together the documentary collections of all nations and archives that contain the fragmented history of this city. Upon entering, I invite you to visit the Memory and Site Space, located in the first room. This space is based on the records of the processes of change in Colonia del Sacramento, highlighting recent local history and the path that led to the declaration of the Historic Neighborhood as World Heritage by UNESCO. The Memory and Site Space emphasizes the plurality of approaches. Here, the voice of the population of the South District and the memory of the Honorary Executive Council are fundamental. This place is dedicated to the critical review of the historical, social and economic processes that the territory south of Colonia del Sacramento went through until it became World Heritage. You will have the opportunity to reflect on the duality “Southern Neighborhood”-“Historic Neighborhood”, crossed by the declarations of National Historical Monument and World Heritage.
