Vaz Ferreira Auditorium
Here we are, at the entrance to the Vaz Ferreira Auditorium. This cultural space has an origin closely linked to the academic and intellectual life of the country. The auditorium is integrated into the building of the National Library of Uruguay and is named after Carlos Vaz Ferreira, one of the most influential philosophers, educators and essayists in Uruguayan history. For decades it operated mainly linked to academic events and conferences. A relevant milestone occurred on September 8, 2016, when the Ministry of Education and Culture decided to transfer its management to the orbit of Sodre (Official Service of Broadcasting, Representations and Shows). To optimize its technical, logistical and artistic operations, it became directly coordinated by the team at the Nelly Goitiño Auditorium, fully integrating into the circuit of top-level public venues in the country. Present Today, the auditorium is an active and multidisciplinary room. It has a capacity of 405 seats in a single low stall, which allows optimal visibility and a very close experience between the artists and the public. Its programming includes chamber concerts, popular music recitals, plays, dance shows, congresses and lecture series.
