Baar Fun Fun

Here we are! Welcome to one of the most emblematic and soulful corners of all of Montevideo: the historic Baar Fun Fun. If the walls could talk, this place would not stop telling us anecdotes, tango verses and guitar chords. It was founded back in 1895 by Don Augusto López. In a city that was transforming day by day, this bar opened its doors to become a true temple of River Plate culture and popular song. Not only did history happen here; history sat down to have a drink. To give you an idea of ​​its mystique, in 1933 Carlos Gardel himself crossed that door. He leaned on this same tin counter that you see today - which has been preserved as it is since that time -, tried the house and, amazed, gave an a cappella tango to those present and an autographed photo that we still proudly display. In addition to Zorzal Criollo, this space hosted great teachers such as Pedro Figari, Pichuco Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Piazzolla and Uruguayan references such as Jaime Roos, Ruben Rada, Jorge Drexler and Fernando Cabrera. Today, Fun Fun is still as alive as the first day. Located in the heart of the Old City (at the CAF headquarters), it combines the warmth of a traditional restaurant with a vibrant cultural proposal.
