IMM Panoramic Viewpoint
Here we are, in front of one of the most emblematic panoramic points of Montevideo. We are located in the headquarters building of the Municipality of Montevideo, about 80 meters above sea level, in the heart of the city center. To understand the value of this place, it is worth reviewing a little of its history. The communal headquarters began to be built at the end of the 1930s under the design of architect Mauricio Cravotto, a reference of the modern movement and integrator of urban planning in Uruguay. Although the original project contemplated an even taller tower with a large spire, the structure was adapted to the scale of the current city. Throughout the 20th century, the tower established itself as an unavoidable reference on the Montevideo horizon. In 2018, the commune completely renovated this viewpoint to adapt it to modern tourist standards, improving its accessibility and re-equipping the facilities. Today, this space serves as a vital stop for residents and visitors alike. From this platform we have a 360-degree panoramic view that spans from Montevideo Bay and the hill to the residential neighborhoods to the east, passing through the iconic 18 de Julio Avenue and the silhouette of the Old City.
