Toymaker's Museum
Here we are! We arrived at the Museum; El Juguetero, an authentic hidden gem on 25 de Mayo Street, in the heart of the Old City. Take a second to admire this building before entering, because both the construction and what is inside tell a wonderful story. A trip to childhood: A little history, To understand how this place was born, you have to know the passion of its creator, Eduardo Balduccio. Eduardo began collecting objects since he was very young, amazed by the mechanisms and designs of yesteryear. What began as a simple hobby of personal collecting transformed, over the course of more than 40 years, into one of the most valuable collections in the country. Together with their daughter Estefanía, in 2022 they realized the great dream of opening the doors of this space to share this treasure with the public. They chose a building that is more than a century old and that formerly housed the Neff Hermanos clothing factory, preserving its original structure to keep that period feel intact. Nostalgia in motion. Today, the El Juguetero Museum is the first antique toy museum in Montevideo. It preserves an impressive collection of more than 25,000 pieces, of which 10% is exhibited and continually rotates in its showcases so that each visit is a different experience.
