Figari Museum

Here we are, in front of the Figari Museum! We are located on the street, Juan Carlos Gómez. A little history. This building in which we are standing has more than a century of history. It was designed and built in 1914 by the architect José Raffo and belongs to the Central Bank of Uruguay. Due to its architectural and historical value, it was declared Architectural Heritage of the city. Although the structure dates back to the early 20th century, the museum itself is relatively young. It officially opened its doors on February 22, 2010 and was formalized by law at the beginning of 2011, when the property was loaned to the Ministry of Education and Culture to house this cultural space. Its central purpose is to preserve, study and disseminate the legacy of Pedro Figari, one of the most influential figures in Uruguayan art and thought. Present. Today, the venue functions as an active cultural center. Between 2024 and 2025, it underwent a restoration process that included the renovation of its façade, the adaptation of rooms on the first and second floors, the roof and sanitary facilities, leaving it in optimal conditions to receive visitors.
