Fuentelucha Park

Here we are! Welcome to this corner that has a truly fascinating transformation. Today we are in what will soon be the Fuente Lucha Forest Park (officially also called Princesa Leonor Forest Park - Habitats Node), an impressive renaturalization project located in the northwest of Alcobendas. If you look around, it's hard to imagine, but I'll tell you a little about its history: for years, this 18-hectare land functioned as the city's old rubble and inert landfill. What used to be a degraded and disused space is living a second life to transform into a true green lung of 185,000 square meters. The present: A refuge for biodiversity. Currently, this space is part of an ambitious environmental recovery plan financed in part by European Next Generation funds. The main objective? Convert this old landfill into a large Habitats Node that connects directly with the urban fabric and the natural environment of the area through a green corridor. During our walk you will see that this is not a conventional urban park with grass cut to the millimeter. Shrubs, bushes and more than 3,000 trees have been planted here to reforest the area.
