Methodist Temple, Uruguay

Here we are, in front of the imposing Methodist Temple of Montevideo, the central temple of the Methodist Church of Uruguay. We are in the Cordón neighborhood of Montevideo, on Constituciónnte street, a place that breathes history and architecture. Observe its facade carefully. The construction of this temple took place between 1903 and 1913. The foundation stone was laid in the early years of the 20th century, marking the beginning of what we see today. This magnificent building was designed by the architects Silvestre Soldini and Celso Bassignano. They designed the temple following the guidelines of the neo-Romanesque style. If you look closely, you will be able to recognize the characteristics of this style: the use of semicircular arches, those solid volumes that give it a feeling of solidity, and a symmetrical distribution of all its construction elements. Every detail contributes to the harmony of the whole. The project not only had the vision of the architects, but also the collaboration of the engineers Luigi Andreoni and Adolfo Shaw. They were responsible for structural planning and technical supervision, ensuring that the architectural vision was materialized with solidity and precision.
